Wilderness Area : Alpine Lakes Wilderness

When did we do this route? August 2023

Transportation: We parked at the Snow Lakes trailhead parking lot and hired Loop Connector Shuttle to pick us up and take us to the Eight Mile trailhead. Reserve in advance.

Water: We brought a water filter.

Leave-No-Trace: Follow Leave No Trace principles and pack out all of your trash.

Flora Considerations: None

Fauna Considerations: There are mountain goats and they're not afraid of humans. Leave them alone and they'll leave you alone.

Trail Specific Considerations: Check the weather before you go, this trail does get up to almost 8000ft and above the tree line during Asgard Pass. The route up the pass is steep with loose rock. Understand where you're supposed to go through this section especially if there is snow cover. This is a long hike so be aware of your abilities and pack accordingly. Like any wilderness trip, you accept a certain amount of risk when going on your hike. You are responsible for assessing how comfortable you feel with that risk and understanding your own physical abilities.
